What Freedom Means to Me

July always causes us to reflect on how grateful we are to live in this free country and how grateful we are to the men and women who have fought and are fighting to protect it. I am always filled with gratitude when I celebrate our freedom with family and friends!

This month I am giving much thought to the other freedoms I believe we all desire.  My focus will be directed toward the areas I am working on that are designed to continue creating my freedom. I don’t know that we think about the mental and emotional things that keep us in bondage as much as we think about the physical things like where and how we live.

Maybe these are things that you also need to focus on a bit?

  • Any area where I am still holding on to GUILT in my life. This is a BIG one. I think I make a breakthrough, find peace and then something else will come to mind and again I feel guilt. Part of my daily morning prayer is to share with God where I am feeling guilt and ask Him to forgive me. I then breathe it in because I know He does.

  • I also want to FORGIVE any friends or family that I have allowed myself to hold a grudge against. This requires taking responsibility plus communicating to them any part in the situation that I own and need to apologize for first. I have learned that most of the time whatever created the angst between us was usually a miscommunication, misunderstanding, and not intentional

  • The older I get and the more experiences life gives me, I find that I have a tendency to WORRY a lot more than I have in the past. This stems from creating some beliefs about my future based on my past and I really want to be free from this. With the help of others, this has been a big focus of mine this year and they are making me aware of those thoughts and changing the belief. I know that what we focus on we create and I do NOT want to create anything that is not true for me and my family. This is probably some of the hardest work I have done and this is where I lean on God the most for truth.

  • Last, I want to keep releasing any DOUBT about who I am and what my mission is. I am holding myself accountable every day to do three intentional things in the area of my life where I may hold any doubt or fear because I know if I can see it that means it is not only possible, it’s my LEGACY!

What are some things mentally and emotionally that you would like to be free of today?
