Life Lessons From Traveling

It’s that time again for me to do some back-to-back trips. I was thinking about these upcoming trips and how much my planning and preparation for these journeys has improved.  The tips I would share for stress free travel can readily be applied to life in general. Whether or not you want to travel, perhaps you can apply these pointers to your personal life to help live with less stress and to fully enjoy the journey!

  • Start preparing for your next adventure, whatever that may be, sooner rather than later. Do you have a vision of what the next adventure is going to look like and how you want to create it? Several days before I leave, I am looking ahead, preparing for the experience I want to have, and how I will be spending my time.

  • Do you have everything you need to take the next steps, or do you need to take inventory and either make space for what you need to add into your life or cut some things out for the sake of a lighter journey? (I have personally made it a big goal to pack lighter!)

  • Leave time and room for adjustments! This is really the key to peace. Stress comes when we pack our days so tight that if there is any little hiccup in the plan, we are thrown off balance and then become stressed out. These days, I have been leaving for my destinations much earlier to leave a margin for change or any kind of obstacle.

  • Don’t assume anything! We live in crazy unpredictable times and I have learned that just because it worked one way for so many years does not mean that’s how it is going to roll now.

  • Take care of yourself, no matter what. Do you have what your body needs? Are you getting enough rest for the journey? What practices do you have in an effort to remain centered; such as meditation, breathing, journaling, and exercise?

Today might be a good today to answer some of these questions and if you are not clear on your journey get that journal out and let’s vision together!
